Come in. Everything's yours, little Come-sit-on-my-knee.
My letters, my youth, my share of the sky. ...
I want to give you everything, since you've given yourself to me.
Put your hand on my life, and in my heaven your eye.

Here's the disorderly and temporary room
Where I was alone, but my hopes were all awhirl. ...
Here are the lamp and the closets of my gloom,
And the photograph of my mother as a girl.

Here are my poets, all my favorite books,
And then over here on the bare wall, you can see
The new calendar where your birthday looks
Out of the circle I've marked. ... And here's my poetry.
