THIS FIGURINE (THIS IS I), by GEORGIA BOIT GIERASCH First Line: Just near the lighted candles - place it there Last Line: Dipped in the tide the flight of a passing swallow. Subject(s): Self | ||||||||
Just near the lighted candles -- place it there -- As treasured bric-a-brac above your fire; The winter evening rouses dim desire To seek the flame; your heart may be aware Of interwoven memories and spare A filament of dream, perhaps aspire To heights of all remembrance, note the lyre In hands compassionate to soothe your care. Within the dusk how subtly stored away The gathered moonlight, well restricted sun, A wealth for all the days that now may follow The woodland-murmuring brooks of yesterday, With every fancy that, untimely spun, Dipped in the tide the flight of a passing swallow. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A CAPELLA by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA AFTER LOOKING UP INTO ONE TOO MANY CAMERAS by HICOK.
