Some folk have need of sturdy things
Like overcoats and shoes,
But there are more elusive things
That I have need to choose,
As solace for the dreams that died
And songs that I must loose.

Man builds new houses on a rock
And sows where he may reap,
But I could never live without
These songs I cannot keep!
