INTRUSION, by DOROTHEA GOODTIME First Line: Caught in the web of a leafless tree Last Line: I sought seclusion once again. Subject(s): Dreams; Nightmares | ||||||||
Caught in the web of a leafless tree, The restless wind sighed noiselessly; Around me silence seemed to flow In lucid drops of soft moon-glow. I mended shattered dreams again With memories awakened, when, Through windows which spilled spots of light Upon the blackness of the night, There lurched the sick, erotic croon Of some cheap, rhythm-oozing tune. I quickly put back in my heart, So miserlike, each tiny part; And then, as to renew the pain, I sought seclusion once again. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VARIATIONS: 14 by CONRAD AIKEN VARIATIONS: 18 by CONRAD AIKEN LIVE IT THROUGH by DAVID IGNATOW A DREAM OF GAMES by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE DREAM OF WAKING by RANDALL JARRELL APOLOGY FOR BAD DREAMS by ROBINSON JEFFERS GIVE YOUR WISH LIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS |
