ALL DAY RAIN, by LARRY GOULD First Line: I had forgotten it could rain like this Last Line: Primeval exultation in a roof. Subject(s): Clouds | ||||||||
I had forgotten it could rain like this. After the ominous dramatic dark, Suspension; all things listening; then, hark! The torrents come; the storm portended, is Obliterating downpour. What a day To rummage in old trunks beneath the eaves, Or by the fire, turning yellow leaves, Muse on the long ago and far away. Here is a little interlude in time. No weather, this, for brisk accomplishment; But from the outer world far, far aloof, Lulled by the rain and some old poet's rhyme, To feel within a shelter snug content -- Primeval exultation in a roof. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE PRESENCES by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE CLOUDHERD'S SONG by ROBERT KELLY THE IMPRESSMENT by WILLIAM MEREDITH THE CLOUDS ABOVE THE OCEAN by STEPHEN DOBYNS THE SACHEM OF THE CLOUDS (A THANKSGIVING LEGEND) by ROBERT FROST A PORTRAIT OF MY ROOF by JAMES GALVIN ABOVE AND WITHIN by DAVID IGNATOW |
