Wind in reeds, No more. Dusk. A light invades From shore. I press the glowing butt Of my last cigarette carefully Against my heel . . . Silly -- Water everywhere. And yet -- It might advertise mortality, And me To those gleams, more alive, Free Than I, just beneath my hand.
