LINES TO A PHILANDERER, by BERTA G. GUIRK First Line: Your voice no longer holds the power ... Thrill Last Line: I learned, at least, five others had a copy. Subject(s): Voices | ||||||||
Your voice no longer holds the power to thrill: Once, lure of all the world was in each tone, Each love-fraught word. I never had my fill Because I thought they were for me alone. I learned, at least, five others had a copy. Just like a lovely dress, once dearly-prized: I thought it, too, was made for me alone; Now cast aside, although not quite despised, Limp hangs its faded beauty, gone its tone. I learned, at least, five others had a copy. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...VOICES OF THE AIR by KATHERINE MANSFIELD FIVE EASY POEMS; FOR ANNE-MARIE ALBIACH: 4 (MEZZA VOICE) by MICHAEL PALMER A SINGING VOICE by KENNETH REXROTH A VOICE FROM THE SWEAT-SHOPS (A HYMN WITH RESPONSES) by LOUIS UNTERMEYER STORIES ARE MADE OF MISTAKES by JAMES GALVIN |
