ICE STORM, by UNA W. HARSEN First Line: Winter is in no happy mood today Last Line: To build a wondrous fairyland of ice. Subject(s): Ice; Storms; Winter | ||||||||
Winter is in no happy mood today. The sky is cold and sullen, leaden gray, The icy rain falls at a sad, slow pace Like tears unheeded on a woman's face And every stem and twig this frozen mood doth borrow, Bowed down as if by weight of sudden, bitter sorrow. Yes, hope may die, by grief's assassins slain, Yet doubt not that the sun will shine in joy again Nor that its first bright beam will then suffice To build a wondrous fairyland of ice. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LOOKING EAST IN THE WINTER by JOHN HOLLANDER WINTER DISTANCES by FANNY HOWE WINTER FORECAST by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN AT WINTER'S EDGE by JUDY JORDAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 34 by JAMES JOYCE |
