A POET'S STUDIO, by CHARLOTTE HAZLEWOOD First Line: Beside the unwearied singing brook it lies Last Line: When inspiration all about him brings. Subject(s): Poetry & Poets | ||||||||
Beside the unwearied singing brook it lies, No roof save arching trees and azure skies, Green with ferns and white with meadow-rue, Vigor of golden sunlight sparkling through. The lisping note of a startled, baby bird With the restful song of the tireless brook is heard; And now and then the vireo's warbling note On melody-awakening breeze afloat. The scent of ferns, the woodsy fragrance there, The taste of sparkling waters make it fair. The mosses' velvet green his fingers bless; While eager thoughts flow on without duress. No wonder here the poet dreams and sings, When inspiration all about him brings. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ENVY OF OTHER PEOPLE'S POEMS by ROBERT HASS THE NINETEENTH CENTURY AS A SONG by ROBERT HASS THE FATALIST: TIME IS FILLED by LYN HEJINIAN OXOTA: A SHORT RUSSIAN NOVEL: CHAPTER 192 by LYN HEJINIAN LET ME TELL YOU WHAT A POEM BRINGS by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA JUNE JOURNALS 6/25/88 by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA FOLLOW ROZEWICZ by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA HAVING INTENDED TO MERELY PICK ON AN OIL COMPANY, THE POEM GOES AWRY by HICOK.
