RING ON, LOVE BELLS, by LILLIAN HIEBERT First Line: Ring on, love bells, with notes so true Last Line: Spotless, lily-white, the sacred vow to be sealed. Subject(s): Bells; Singing & Singers; Songs | ||||||||
Ring on, love bells, with notes so true, Airy peals, soul-touching and of rosy hue, With harmony sent from heaven above Chiming the chord of the golden chain of love. Deep-souled, echoed on earth around With its sacred silver-sweet sound, While its tolls of love are heard between, Knells of love, pure as spring in green -- Love with its golden keys Opens happy thoughts as these. Peal forth, Wedding bells! Your sacred rites it tells In its echoing triumphant chord, Notes over which love is lord. Sound the solemn nuptial blast! On the wide world in symphony cast. Love is hopeful -- Love is young, With fond memories around us hung, That will now and ever be sung In every land and every tongue. Sweet bells, your tolls of love have words As tuneful as the notes of birds, -- Tuneful as the morning lark's melody rings When dawning day spreads its wings, Thoughts sweetened with dreamful ease, Hopeful memories that dawn and please. From the joyful peals skyward hung Heralding forth the message sweetly rung -- Vibrant with joy, ring meadow and field, Spotless, lily-white, the sacred vow to be sealed. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE APOLLO TRIO by CONRAD AIKEN BAD GIRL SINGING by MARK JARMAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 4 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 5 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 28 by JAMES JOYCE THE SONG OF THE NIGHTINGALE IS LIKE THE SCENT OF SYRINGA by MINA LOY THE LOVE SONNETS OF PROTEUS: 112.
