A CHRISTMAS HYMN, by
First Line: We pray for peace at christmas time
Last Line: To paths of peace for aye.
Subject(s): Prayer

We pray for peace at Christmas time
That war shall be no more;
The Star of Bethlehem still shines
As in the days of yore,
When angels sang of peace on earth
Good will to all mankind,
Wise men and shepherds followed far
The Prince of Peace to find.

Peace on the earth, good will to men?
The angels' song seems lost,
As nations strive, and conflicts rage
With ghastly holocaust.
There is no peace! Men of good will,
When will ye tread again
The way of love and sacrifice
To cleanse the hearts of men?

Then only will the tumults cease
And wars' alarms depart,
When brotherhood and love shall rule
In every human heart.
O Star of Bethlehem, lead on;
Teach us to find the way
From selfishness, distrust and greed,
To Paths of Peace for Aye.
