Subject(s): Neighbors

She had a modern furnished home
With deep, delightful chairs
Designed for entertaining guests
Who drop in unawares.
A silver service built for tea
Upon a shining tray --
A fire place, cosy as could be
For dreaming hours away;
A radio that brought a tune
From any foreign land,
Red roses in a Rookwood vase --
A teakwood smoking stand.
Alas, that old time courtesy
Today is but a name;
Her door stood wide to welcome
The guests that never came.
