O give me gilliflowers (God give you good for those) Whose perfume all the hours Of slumber sweetly blows. The scholar of the night Converts to day its dusk, And with his kindled light Distils the scent of musk. At daybreak is withdrawn Its scattered redolence, As lovers with the dawn Quit their beloveds' tents.
