Alone, -- no, not alone. How could man ever be, When facing the rising sun of eternity; Drawing nearer to forces great of earth, He leaves behind him forms of lesser worth, Great sun of many mighty colored rays, Emblem of man in all his varied walks and ways. To man with mind that's opened wide The spirit of everything that was and is Throngs on every side, for the man who concentrates Alone! 'Twere a foolish thought to ever think That he could be alone, for man must blinded be To fail to see the vision in the sun. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 4 by MARK JARMAN QUIA ABSURDUM by ROBINSON JEFFERS GOING TO THE HORSE FLATS by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET TO FORTUNE by LUCY AIKEN JONATHAN EDWARDS IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS by ROBERT LOWELL |
