And now it's done and over with: Embalm the dream And place it in the granite Kremlin of the mind Where each passing day (and night) Can stop and stare and wonder at its rigid tensity ... Then ask of it: Did this once stir the heart Like sight of moon through clinging clouds Or curve of wings near yielding shores Or sound of wind seducing trees? Then ask and ask again: Was this the bridge that spanned the world From phantasy to frightful fact? Was this the prismic glass that caught the dawn? Was this the quickening haven of your love?
