EVEN UNTO DEATH, by ETHEL BROOKS KOGER First Line: Years, and I love you still, my dear Last Line: And waits your heart above. Subject(s): Love | |||
Years, and I love you still, my dear, Though frost has touched your heart And chilled your every thought of me, I cannot tear apart The cords that bind me faithfully, Nor would I have you know The stream that seems so still to you Has such a tide below. When moonlight threads my futile dreams I see you -- and forget, Then morning vaults the dusky wall And finds my eyelids wet; Now dare I hope when shadows fall To meet you and to love? My spirit slips past time and death And waits your heart above. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE INVENTION OF LOVE by MATTHEA HARVEY TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS A LOVE FOR FOUR VOICES: HOMAGE TO FRANZ JOSEPH HAYDN by ANTHONY HECHT AN OFFERING FOR PATRICIA by ANTHONY HECHT LATE AFTERNOON: THE ONSLAUGHT OF LOVE by ANTHONY HECHT A SWEETENING ALL AROUND ME AS IT FALLS by JANE HIRSHFIELD |
