CLOUD SEAS, by OLIVE C. LEARY First Line: The sky's a tossing, wind-swept sea Last Line: And joy knows depths unseen. Subject(s): Sea; Ocean | ||||||||
The sky's a tossing, wind-swept sea, The clouds are breaking waves; The darkened space is rocky coast With many foam-hid caves. Between the peaks is a misty moon Half-veiled by spume and spray, Where mighty crests of a driven sea Dash frenzied strength away. And now the sea turns slowly calm While wearied breakers drowse; The moon sails high to sprinkle beams Where scattered white caps browse. It mirrors tranquil human seas Resplendantly serene, When lashing storms have spent themselves And joy knows depths unseen. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HALL OF OCEAN LIFE by JOHN HOLLANDER JULY FOURTH BY THE OCEAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE FIGUREHEAD by LEONIE ADAMS |
