MY LADY OF THE ROSES, by GRACE JOHNSON LOMON First Line: She dwells within a mansion fair Last Line: My lady of the roses. Subject(s): Flowers; Roses | ||||||||
She dwells within a mansion fair Where sunlight soft reposes, How wonderful for me she'd care, My Lady of the roses. Though others come and humbly kneel To sue for smile or favor, To me she's true through woe or weal, Her love will never waver. Though fortune frowns and fate's behest Sorrow and pain imposes, I'll not complain, to me is left My Lady of the roses. And when some day in death's embrace My silent form reposes, May angels guard with tender grace My Lady of the roses. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE WHISPER OF THE ROSE by EDMUND JOHN ARMSTRONG THE WISDOM OF THE ROSE by ELSA BARKER LOVE PLANTED A ROSE by KATHARINE LEE BATES ROSES; A VILANELLE by LOUISA SARAH BEVINGTON THE PAINTER ON SILK by AMY LOWELL VARIATIONS: 17 by CONRAD AIKEN WORDS IN A CERTAIN APPROPRIATE MODE by HAYDEN CARRUTH HER EYES TWIN POOLS by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON A GIRL'S THOUGHTS by ISAAC ROSENBERG THE MAYFLOWER [DECEMBER 21, 1620] by ERASTUS WOLCOTT ELLSWORTH |
