THE GOSPEL WOMEN: 9. THE WOMEN WHO MINISTERED UNTO HIM, by GEORGE MACDONALD Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: Enough he labours for his hire Last Line: To him 'tis very much. Subject(s): Bible; Generosity; Jesus Christ; Love; Women | ||||||||
ENOUGH he labours for his hire; Yea, nought can pay his pain; But powers that wear and waste and tire, Need help to toil again. They give him freely all they can, They give him clothes and food; In this rejoicing, that the man Is not ashamed they should. High love takes form in lowly thing; He knows the offering such; To them 'tis little that they bring, To him 'tis very much. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ARISTOTLE TO PHYLLIS by JOHN HOLLANDER A WOMAN'S DELUSION by SUSAN HOWE JULIA TUTWILER STATE PRISON FOR WOMEN by ANDREW HUDGINS THE WOMEN ON CYTHAERON by ROBINSON JEFFERS TOMORROW by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD LADIES FOR DINNER, SAIPAN by KENNETH KOCH GOODBYE TO TOLERANCE by DENISE LEVERTOV LOST AND FOUND by GEORGE MACDONALD THAT HOLY THING by GEORGE MACDONALD THE BABY, FR.
