MY MOTHER'S ROCKING CHAIR, by MARCELLA DRENNAN MALARKY First Line: I loved my mother's rocking chair Last Line: The little rocking chair. Subject(s): Chairs; Mothers | ||||||||
I loved my mother's rocking chair, So cheery and so bright; 'Twas small and round and painted red, It was my chief delight. The seat was deep, the back was round, It fit you, oh, so snug; I loved to rock in mother's arms, She'd hold me tight and hug Me, oh, so close up to her heart; Then all my fears would soon depart. I would love to see once more, my dear, That dear old rocking chair, To be a child in mother's arms, To feel the comfort there. And that old kitchen, the old blue clock, The winding wooden stair, But memory dear has painted clear A picture, oh, so fair Of my mother and her kitchen and The little rocking chair. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MY MOTHER'S HANDS by ANDREW HUDGINS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS IN THE 25TH YEAR OF MY MOTHER'S DEATH by JUDY JORDAN THE PAIDLIN' WEAN by ALEXANDER ANDERSON BLASTING FROM HEAVEN by PHILIP LEVINE |
