THE LONG JOURNEY, by SUSAN R. MARSH First Line: A ghostly caravan of women bowed Last Line: She weirdly plods her way fore'er detached. Subject(s): Travel; Women; Journeys; Trips | ||||||||
A ghostly caravan of women bowed Are dragging weary feet through slewy sand. They journey on and on in dour complaint, Yet ever kneel for burdens, not their own; And through eternity they travel, (like To camels) whining, yet with sour content, Yet after all, they are the mothers of men. The woman and the camel baffle them (Despite their power and mental strength). Refractory-complaint is woman's trait. With supercilious, subtle, dumb aspect She weirdly plods her way fore'er detached. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...RICHARD, WHAT'S THAT NOISE? by RICHARD HOWARD LOOKING FOR THE GULF MOTEL by RICHARD BLANCO RIVERS INTO SEAS by LYNDA HULL DESTINATIONS by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE ONE WHO WAS DIFFERENT by RANDALL JARRELL THE CONFESSION OF ST.
