THE SIGN, by CLYDE MCGEE First Line: Faithful hearts had long been watching Last Line: And the signa little child! Subject(s): Angels; Faith; Heaven; Jesus Christ - Childhood & Youth; Worship; Belief; Creed; Paradise | ||||||||
Faithful hearts had long been watching, Long been waiting for the sign, Holding fast to word foretelling There would come a King Divine. And the air of night was vibrant With the beat of angels' wings; There were portents in the heavens! He was coming! King of Kings! And the Wise Men and the Shepherds By a guidance strange were led Till they stood within a stable At a lowly manger bed. There, a little baby sleeping, And the oxen feeding by, And a happy mother guarding Precious gift from the Most High. There the promise of redemption! There a wisdom undefiled! For humanity, a Saviour! And the signa little child! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE END OF LIFE by PHILIP JAMES BAILEY SEVEN TWILIGHTS: 6 by CONRAD AIKEN THE BOOK OF THE DEAD MAN (#19): 2.
