THREE GOOD THINGS, by CLYDE MCGEE First Line: I think I like that hour best Last Line: Beauty, peace, and victory. Subject(s): Life | ||||||||
I think I like that hour best When sun is sinking in the west, And fretful cares with day depart And evening's quiet fills my heart; Again I prize those moments most When life draws up his rebel host, Armed to crush me, wound me through, And I face him, conquer, and subdue; Or, when on lonely steeps of pain, The struggle fruitless, watching vain, A gleam of light breaks suddenly, And I a touch of beauty see. These three good things life holds for me, Beauty, Peace, and Victory. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PRIVILEGE OF BEING by ROBERT HASS SEAWATER STIFFENS CLOTH by JANE HIRSHFIELD SAYING YES TO LIVING by DAVID IGNATOW THE WORLD IS SO DIFFICULT TO GIVE UP by DAVID IGNATOW |
