TO EROS, by
First Line: Love, you and I have walked apart
Last Line: That pillar life's design.
Subject(s): Love

Love, you and I have walked apart
These many years -- my path is free
From jealous shade that dims the way,
From blinding bursts of ecstasy.

With level eyes I look across
A level landscape void of heights,
Unhurried through the restless days,
Unfevered by seductive nights.

No quivering pulses bate my breath,
Coolly I watch the stars decline
And feel the calm of changeless things
That pillar Life's design.
