ANOTHER SPRING, by POLLY MCKIBBEN First Line: The day arrives when suddenly you catch Last Line: While life renews itself -- there is no death! Subject(s): Spring | ||||||||
The day arrives when suddenly you catch That first faint whiff of rising sap in spring; Your winter lethargy has taken wing At sight of some entrancing crocus patch; Your mind flies open; time has touched the latch, A daffodil has set your heart a-swing; Excitement thrills each eager growing thing; A robin thinks of eggs she wants to hatch. Your soul stands wondering in hushed surprise Which stirs your very roots beneath the veil Of tingling joy; you draw a long deep breath; Although you know an autumn fades and dies, Your faith in resurrection cannot fail -- While life renews itself -- there is no death! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD FALSE SPRING by POLLY MCKIBBEN |
