THE GARDEN IN SPRING, by EDITH MCNALL First Line: When the garden gate is open Last Line: In weariness. Subject(s): Flowers; Gardens & Gardening | ||||||||
When the garden gate is open, The lawn is starred with daffodils And the flowers send their perfume To the hills. In the middle of the garden, And in the grass beside the pool, The stately iris opening Look so cool. And when the lotus sink to sleep In memory and forgetfulness I tread the garden path alone In weariness. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...NOVEMBER GARDEN: AN ELEGY by ANDREW HUDGINS AN ENGLISH GARDEN IN AUSTRIA (SEEN AFTER DER ROSENKAVALIER) by RANDALL JARRELL ACROSS THE BROWN RIVER by GALWAY KINNELL A DESERTED GARDEN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS NOT THE SWEET CICELY OF GERARDES HERBALL by MARGARET AVISON |
