SHALL WE FORGET, by WILLIAM MITCHELL First Line: Jesus! Thy love shall we forget Last Line: Our constancy shall prove. Subject(s): Jesus Christ | ||||||||
Jesus! Thy love shall we forget, And never bring to mind The grace that paid our hopeless debt, And bade us pardon find? Shall we Thy life of grief forget, Thy fasting and Thy prayer; Thy locks with mountain vapors wet, To save us from despair? Gethsemane can we forget-- Thy struggling agony When night lay dark on Olivet, And none to watch with Thee? Our sorrows and our sins were laid On Thee, alone on Thee; Thy precious blood our ransom paid-- Thine all the glory be! Life's brightest joys we may forget-- Our kindred cease to love; But He who paid our hopeless debt, Our constancy shall prove. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MEDITATION ON SAVIORS by ROBINSON JEFFERS COMPANIONSHIP by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK TO A WREN ON CALVARY by LARRY LEVIS THE TRANSFIGURATION by EDWIN MUIR SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
