MASONRY, by ROSELLE MERCIER MONTGOMERY Poet's Biography First Line: I have a secret in my happy heart Last Line: For that sweet secret in the heart of me! Subject(s): Mothers | ||||||||
I HAVE a secret in my happy heart I walk as though to music heard afar! And sunshine is about me as I go Of God's great plan I feel myself a part! My secret, too, has made me very wise I know how Mary felt when angels came To tell her of the glory to be hers How glad her heart, though tears were in her eyes! I know her anguish, too, on Calvary The sorrows of the mothers of the world Are also mine! And how they pay, in tears, The toll of all their joy is known to me! But ah, that joy is now a part of me! And I go singing ... singing on my way The masonry of motherhood is mine For that sweet secret in the heart of me! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MY MOTHER'S HANDS by ANDREW HUDGINS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS IN THE 25TH YEAR OF MY MOTHER'S DEATH by JUDY JORDAN THE PAIDLIN' WEAN by ALEXANDER ANDERSON BLASTING FROM HEAVEN by PHILIP LEVINE A DESERTED HOUSE by ROSELLE MERCIER MONTGOMERY |
