THIS THEN IS BEAUTY, by DESSIE GARNER MOORE First Line: This then is beauty in its sweetest way Last Line: My head on your shoulder as the bright day ends! Subject(s): Nature | ||||||||
This then is beauty in its sweetest way; Twittering bird-notes at dawning day; Sun-dappled grass still wet with dew; A clump of trees, a drift of smoke through; A morning campfire and breakfast with you! A path in the sun, blue sky overhead; Pine needles underfoot to carpet my tread; A breeze in the air, a wild bird's trill; A falling pine cone, the rise of a hill; A brown hand in mine -- you with me still! A blue haze at twilight, the sun slanting low; Deep shadows falling, our campfire's glow; The farmer boy's whistle as homeward he wends; The sweet hour of silence as night descends; My head on your shoulder as the bright day ends! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...INTERRUPTED MEDITATION by ROBERT HASS TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS THE FATALIST: HOME by LYN HEJINIAN WRITING IS AN AID TO MEMORY: 17 by LYN HEJINIAN LET US GATHER IN A FLOURISHING WAY by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA IN MICHAEL ROBINS?ÇÖS CLASS MINUS ONE by HICOK.
