STUFF OF POETS, by MARIE M. MOTT First Line: Where do poets find their themes? Last Line: From the odds and ends of life! Subject(s): Poetry & Poets | ||||||||
Where do poets find their themes? Themes appear in poets' dreams; Flashing in the starry heavens, Dancing in the woodland streams. Whence the sparkling thoughts that glow In their minds, as verses grow? Thoughts come tumbling from a fountain, To be sorted -- thus and so! From what source come words to use When living thoughts they would diffuse? Poets' ears are tuned to listen To the sweet voice of the Muse. Thoughts and themes and words are rife, Laughter, love, and bits of strife, Ecstasy and pain are garnered -- From the odds and ends of Life! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ENVY OF OTHER PEOPLE'S POEMS by ROBERT HASS THE NINETEENTH CENTURY AS A SONG by ROBERT HASS THE FATALIST: TIME IS FILLED by LYN HEJINIAN OXOTA: A SHORT RUSSIAN NOVEL: CHAPTER 192 by LYN HEJINIAN LET ME TELL YOU WHAT A POEM BRINGS by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA JUNE JOURNALS 6/25/88 by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA FOLLOW ROZEWICZ by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA HAVING INTENDED TO MERELY PICK ON AN OIL COMPANY, THE POEM GOES AWRY by HICOK.
