SUNRISE ON SNOQUALMIE, by AUDRIA NOLTON First Line: Forbidding peaks stand purple Last Line: The majesty of god! Subject(s): Dawn; Sunrise | ||||||||
Forbidding peaks stand purple In the silence of the clouds; Departing night Sheds eerie light To pierce their pearly shrouds; The forest wakens softly To the breeze that heralds dawn; Gray shadows shift And vapors lift Where rock-hewn canyons yawn; Rugged slopes grow radiant At the first faint flush of morn; The lofty snows Glow softly rose As the mountain day is born. And then the gold of sunlight Lies over sea and sod -- Across the skies For mortal eyes The majesty of God! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THIS MORNING, GOD by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR BURNING DAWN by HAYDEN CARRUTH DAWN by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON IN THE GARDEN AT THE DAWN HOUR by EDGAR LEE MASTERS EARLY RISER by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE WORDS WHEN WE NEED THEM by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE CHERRY BLOSSOMS BLOWING IN WEST BLOWING SNOW by JAMES GALVIN |
