EARTH, by EVELYN OSLUND First Line: Earth turns no beaten wanderer from her breast Last Line: All the strength and all the love the earth bestows. Subject(s): Earth; World | ||||||||
Earth turns no beaten wanderer from her breast, But heals them with her sunshine and her rain: She comforts them with songs of bubbling brooks As she turns their faces toward the sun again. They feel kindness in the warmth of morning sunshine As it coaxes smiles from every tiny flower; They see it in the brightness of the rainbow As it comes to cheer them after every shower. They hear from every whisper of the branches, They sense from the sweet fragrance of the rose, They see in the pure beauty of the lily All the strength and all the love the earth bestows. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BROKEN BALANCE by ROBINSON JEFFERS SUBJECTED EARTH by ROBINSON JEFFERS GEOMETAPHYSICS by MARGARET AVISON NIAGARA by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS SOPHISTICATION by CONRAD AIKEN I SEE CHILE IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR by AGHA SHAHID ALI WASHING OUR HANDS OF THE REST OF AMERICA by MARVIN BELL THE EARTH IS A LIVING THING by LUCILLE CLIFTON AND THEY OBEY by CARL SANDBURG SING-SONG; A NURSERY RHYME BOOK: 45 by CHRISTINA GEORGINA ROSSETTI |
