THE WILD ROSE COURAGEOUS, by LYDA LAURINE PAGE First Line: Undaunted by pitiless scourging Last Line: The wild rose will blossom again. Subject(s): Flowers; Roses | ||||||||
Undaunted by pitiless scourging; Deprived of the life-giving rain, Emerging from grim desolation The roses will blossom again. Like souls who display rare, fine courage Through years of the darkest despair; Who still have the heart to keep hoping, And are strengthening each day by a prayer. The flowers will soon spread their fragrance Over city and village and plain; Symbolic of deathless devotion, The wild rose will blossom again. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE WHISPER OF THE ROSE by EDMUND JOHN ARMSTRONG THE WISDOM OF THE ROSE by ELSA BARKER LOVE PLANTED A ROSE by KATHARINE LEE BATES ROSES; A VILANELLE by LOUISA SARAH BEVINGTON THE PAINTER ON SILK by AMY LOWELL VARIATIONS: 17 by CONRAD AIKEN WORDS IN A CERTAIN APPROPRIATE MODE by HAYDEN CARRUTH EMPEDOCLES ON ETNA; A DRAMATIC POEM by MATTHEW ARNOLD |
