FOG, by LUCILE PALMER First Line: Oh most folks like the cheerful sunshine bright Last Line: With all engulfing, gusty, misty breath. Subject(s): Fog; Haze | ||||||||
Oh most folks like the cheerful sunshine bright, Their spirits soar on lifting wings of gay days, I like the pleasant sorrow of a gray haze On shadowed cool and blurry misty night. When ragged flags are flung from cloudy height. My mood tires of perpetual noisy heydeys, I like it when a hooded army waylays And strips the brazen gaudy day of light. I like to watch grey ghosty vandals scout, Mysterious and stealthy, still as Death, In swirling shrouds and padded sandals rout Each vainly struggling, feeble sunbeam wraith, Blowing the city's gold-tipped candles out With all engulfing, gusty, misty breath. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS BELLEVUE EXCHANGE by NORMAN DUBIE THE SEA FOG by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN |
