CONTENT, by PHIL PERKINS First Line: Happy is he who through life's toil and care Last Line: "and truly say, ""dear lord, I am content." Subject(s): Happiness; Joy; Delight | ||||||||
Happy is he who through life's toil and care Can bid farewell unto the setting sun And feel contentment full within his soul For having sought and gained a worthy goal. Happy is he when twilight hours draw near, And one by one the evening stars appear, If he can look back on each hour of day And feel content that none had gone astray. Happy is he who through life's toil and care Can pause to scatter sunshine everywhere, And close his eyes and rest from labors spent And truly say, "Dear Lord, I am content." | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE STUDY OF HAPPINESS by KENNETH KOCH SO MUCH HAPPINESS by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE CROWD CONDITIONS by JOHN ASHBERY I WILL NOT BE CLAIMED by MARVIN BELL THE BOOK OF THE DEAD MAN (#21): 1.
