NO matter what the future bring, or give, What fortune, dire or friendly, Fate decree, Not to have known You had been not to live. Nor joy nor dour disaster may deprive My soul of that You made me presentee: No matter what the Future bring, or give. Alway Your Self, Your aura, shall survive As inner essence, lasting part of me: Not to have known You had been not to live. Each thought of You must stay evocative Of exquisite hours, unbroken ecstasy, No matter what the Future bring, or give. Pow'r o'er my spirit your prerogative Isand remainsto all Eternity ... Not to have known You had been not to live. Whether we wed or part, whate'er arrive Are Love's delights, or griding griefs, to be? No matter what the Future bring, or give, Not to have known You had been not to live! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ROSE AND MURRAY by CONRAD AIKEN THOUGH WE NO LONGER POSSESS IT by MARK JARMAN THE GLORY OF THE DAY WAS IN HER FACE by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON LOVE COME AND GONE by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON CHAMBER MUSIC: 28 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 33 by JAMES JOYCE A SCOTCH SONG by JOANNA BAILLIE A BALLADE OF GREEN FIELDS; FOR F.W.M. by AUSTIN PHILIPS |
