LIGHT of heart, and joyous-lipped, From scholastic trammels free, Nectar 'mongst 'the Gods' I sipped. Heedless of the rain that dripped, Waited at the shrine of Tree, Light of heart and joyous-lipped. In the tier whence bourgeois flipped Nutshells on nobility, Nectar 'mongst 'the Gods' I sipped; Laughing loud when Leno quipped All his jests were new to me Light of heart and joyous-lipped. Am'rous of the trine that tripped At the dear old 'Gaiety', Nectar 'mongst 'the Gods' I sipped. Twice-told tales nor jarred nor hipped Nothing then banality! Light of heart and joyous-lipped, Nectar 'mongst 'the Gods' I sipped! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...FOR THE SAKE OF STRANGERS by DORIANNE LAUX A CONSIDERABLE SPECK by ROBERT FROST BUT I DO NOT NEED KINDNESS by GREGORY NUNZIO CORSO HER DILEMMA; IN CHURCH by THOMAS HARDY A BALLADE OF GREEN FIELDS; FOR F.W.M. by AUSTIN PHILIPS |
