GARDENS OF THE MIND, by LILLIAN IRVINE POLLOCK First Line: Flowers are the magic bit of leaven Last Line: For our gardens in eternity? Subject(s): Flowers | ||||||||
Flowers are the magic bit of leaven That brings to earth the fragrant breath of heaven; Messengers of love and beauty rare, Spreading perfumed gladness everywhere. We may have the flowers if we will, Blooming on our mental window sill; Or, if we prefer the noxious weed, We have but to plant that kind of seed. Flowers grow where thoughts are pure and kind, In these fertile gardens of the mind; Thorns and thistles from the seeds of strife Crowd the lovely flowers from our life. Heaven's richest treasures ours to use; We can make our Eden if we choose.
