CLOUD SONG, by ARTHUR GLYN PRYS-JONES Poet's Biography First Line: Silken sails in silver galleons Last Line: From your merchandise of dreams! Subject(s): Sailing & Sailors; Sea; Wales; Ocean; Welshmen; Welshwomen | ||||||||
I SILKEN sails in silver galleons, Gemmed Armadas of the sky, Round what shining, sea-girt cities Will you anchor by and by? II Argosies from out the sunrise, Pilgrims of the purple west, Will you find your golden havens In the Islands of the Blessed? III Take the moon for your guard-lantern, Hang the star-light round your prows, Call a chanty from the sea-winds For your mellow parting-rouse! IV But, before you sail for ever Through the distance where it seems Sunset after sunset lingers Flooding Heaven with opal beams, Leave me just a jewelled poem From your merchandise of dreams! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ANTICHRIST, OR THE REUNION OF CHRISTENDOM; AN ODE by GILBERT KEITH CHESTERTON WALES VISITATION by ALLEN GINSBERG WELSH INCIDENT by ROBERT RANKE GRAVES THE BARD; A PINDARIC ODE by THOMAS GRAY THE TRIUMPHS OF OWEN: A FRAGMENT by THOMAS GRAY WELSH LANDSCAPE by RONALD STUART THOMAS A BALLAD OF GLYNDWR'S RISING by ARTHUR GLYN PRYS-JONES A HYMN FOR ST.
