MRS. LING, by SUSAN N. PULSIFER First Line: In my father's house is a very large family Last Line: Mrs. Ling. Subject(s): Family Life; Relatives | ||||||||
In my father's house is a very large family. There is my father, my second brother and his wife, And the mother of my second brother's wife, Mrs. Ling. There are my three mothers: Mr first mother never speaks . . . . . She sits alone in her room and watches the bloom and the fall of the tree, And "Ice" is my father's name for her. My second mother hates my father Because he bought her for only three hundred dollars. My youngest mother climbs in the tops of the trees Because she cannot stand The low roofs of the houses of China. These are my three mothers . . . . . But now my father likes best the mother of my second brother's wife, Mrs. Ling. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MY AUNT ELLA MAE by MICHAEL S.
