Love kindle,
Death slay
Fires that consume
The earth away
Smoulder to black
The red clay.

Sun bleeds red
In the pit of night,
The heart goes out,
And a black hand
Puts out the light.

The dragon-hole
Haunt of darkness
Swallows the world
And the hag's crutch
Buries the roses.

Death kindle
Love slay
The red man
In the black shadow
Behind the roses
Turns to clay.
