WEEP NOT FOR ME, by ELLIS ARTHUR REPASS First Line: Weep not for me, the savior said Last Line: Once more we meet at thy dear feet. Alternate Author Name(s): Repass, E. A. | ||||||||
Weep not for me, the Savior said, As on to Cross his pathway led; But for yourselves, and children weep, While I pass through the shadows deep. And so, perhaps, our sainted dead Look wond'ringly from overhead -- From far beyond sun, moon and star -- With not a cloud their joy to mar. Why weep for us, they whisper now? But few our steps from you, we know; Perhaps, for you, a few breaths more, Till you join us on shining shore. And, then, in land of radiant day, A glad good morning, we shall say; But say goodnight, good-bye no more, Upon that bright and better shore. Lord, give us grace upon our way, Help us to live life's little day, That when our journey here's complete, Once more we meet at Thy dear feet. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ROBERT OF LINCOLN by WILLIAM CULLEN BRYANT BARNEY'S INVITATION by PHILIP FRENEAU A CAROL FOR CHRISTMAS DAY BEFORE DAWN by GORDON BOTTOMLEY SONNETS FROM THE PORTUGUESE: 17 by ELIZABETH BARRETT BROWNING TO ROMANCE by GEORGE GORDON BYRON THE TWO ROUND SPACES ON THE TOMB-STONE by SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE HIDE AND SEEK by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE THE TRUE-BORN ENGLISHMAN: PART 2 by DANIEL DEFOE A MILTONIC EXERCISE (TERCENTENARY, 1608-1908) by HENRY AUSTIN DOBSON |
