PINE-CLAD HILLS, by ELIZABETH DAVIS RICHARDS First Line: I hope that I shall live forever, here Last Line: Her promises of immortality. Subject(s): Pine Trees; Trees | ||||||||
I hope that I shall live forever, here, Upon these pine-clad hills, Their beauty snares my soul; I love them 'neath mantillas of the mist, Or in the dawn, resplendent and sun-kissed, When Spring fulfills Her promises of immortality. Yet, if I may not live forever, here, Upon these pine-clad hills Where peace and beauty dwell, I would, wind-blown, return in silver rain To wake the violets and dogwood again, When Spring fulfills Her promises of immortality. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE PROBLEM OF DESCRIBING TREES by ROBERT HASS THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MIDNIGHT EDEN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN REFLECTION OF THE WOOD by LEONIE ADAMS THE LIFE OF TREES by DORIANNE LAUX TO THE THEATRE by ELIZABETH DAVIS RICHARDS YOUTH ASKS by ELIZABETH DAVIS RICHARDS THE VOICE OF THE ANCIENT BARD, FR.
