NOVEMBER DAYS, by GRACE A. ROGERS First Line: I like november days the best Last Line: So they spread their wings, and fly away. Subject(s): Autumn; November; Seasons; Fall | |||
I like November days the best, When leaves come down to earth to rest, When flowers droop their heads and sigh, "Summer's gone. Soon we shall die." November leaves that once were green Have now completely changed the scene. They have dressed the hills in autumn's gown Of golden yellow, red and brown. Pleasant are November rains That beat upon the window panes, And fall in big drops from the eaves Upon the broad green canna leaves. I like the dull November haze That comes with Indian summer days -- Days that fit so well between Winter's gray and summer's green. Southland flies the mocking bird. No more his cheerful song is heard. "Summer is gone," the bluejays say, So they spread their wings, and fly away. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OUR AUTUMN by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN AN AUTUMN JOY by GEORGE ARNOLD A LEAF FALLS by MARION LOUISE BLISS THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD A LETTER IN OCTOBER by TED KOOSER AUTUMN EVENING by DAVID LEHMAN EVERYTHING THAT ACTS IS ACTUAL by DENISE LEVERTOV |
