IN A ROOMING HOUSE, by
First Line: She was kneeling by her bedside
Last Line: May the good lord strike me dead.
Subject(s): Houses

She was kneeling by her bedside,
And her door was opened wide;
She had on a dirty bathrobe,
And her hair had once been dyed.

She thought her prayer was answered
As a board squeaked in the floor --
But she saw it was a woman,
And got up and slammed the door.

If I ever get that foolish,
That I kneel beside my bed,
To attract the male attention,
May the Good Lord strike me dead.
