AWAKENING, by FLOSSIE FAITH SAWINGS First Line: Oh, brave and high that day of evermore Last Line: To find the father waiting at the door. Subject(s): Jesus Christ | ||||||||
Oh, brave and high that day of Evermore, Like yearly Aprils captured and set free, When gentle feet that once trod Galilee Shall walk the cool of earth; when star-words pour Upon the air and halt the waters' surge: "Awake, my own beloved! -- Come to Me!" Then from the fields and fallow land shall be Great clods upflung in one tremendous urge. "Oh Father! ... Mother ... Oh my child, my own ..." Shall ring the air with precious ecstasy; Lovers shall meet, and none be left alone, Then all shall seek Him for eternity Like lost young children coming home once more To find the Father waiting at the door. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MEDITATION ON SAVIORS by ROBINSON JEFFERS COMPANIONSHIP by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK TO A WREN ON CALVARY by LARRY LEVIS THE TRANSFIGURATION by EDWIN MUIR SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
