She dances on a scallop stage Of mauve and silver shells, The sea her merry melody Of violins and bells, While spray along the sands below Reflects a pebbled footlight glow. The white gulls pause and hush their chant, A round-eyed audience. She pirouettes and bows, and then Applauding wavelets have the sense Such twinkling artistry to greet By tossing sea weed at her feet. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HALL OF OCEAN LIFE by JOHN HOLLANDER JULY FOURTH BY THE OCEAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE FIGUREHEAD by LEONIE ADAMS SIDEWALK PHILOSOPHER by BLANCHE SCHOFIELD |
