Death and no music But wind dying, The dust of walls, The long halls Of the once immortal. Here are the skulls, The teeth of an ass, The long jawbone Of one whose empire was the world. Hail! Caesar! My heel salutes thee. Strike fire, strike storm: Steel and forgotten trumpets. And the stink of the legionaries And Keats coughing blood upon his pillow. And Death, O Mother Death, Come quietly, come gently, And in this street, long and empty, Let me walk silently Alone, unheard, unremembered.
