Last Line: Are but a fool's.
Alternate Author Name(s): Simonides Of Keos

THOUGHTFUL men their praise withhold
From Lindian Cleobulus. He defied
Running rivers, spring flowers, burning gold
Of sun and moon, and swirling ocean pools
In strength to outbide
A stone.
The gods are strong alone.
Marble our hands can break to bits.
Those Lindian wits
Are but a fool's.
