This day of mine was full of tasks -- Of things that should be done. I hurried 'round from early morn. Till almost setting sun. But with my day's work finished, now, How peaceful seems the view Of meadow lands and distant hills That blend from green to blue. The shadows now are lengthening O'er the meadows I can see, Where cows and horses homeward wend, Grazing contentedly. There's something that so soothing is, After a task well done, In distant hills and meadowlands Just ere the setting sun. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MEDICINE 2; FOR JOHN MURRAY by CAROLYN KIZER AND THEY OBEY by CARL SANDBURG STOPPING BY WOODS ON A SNOWY EVENING by ROBERT FROST BY THE RIVERS by SHIRLEY KAUFMAN TO LUCASTA, [ON] GOING TO THE WARS by RICHARD LOVELACE FOR THE UNION DEAD by ROBERT LOWELL |
